| Take a quick walk around Haleiwa and you will see all kinds of souvenir shops with tons of shell ornaments to offer with plenty of rare choices to choose from. You can even get your hands on a traditional Hawaiian ‘Hora’ shell. These shells were used as musical instruments and more in ancient Hawaii and are still being used today! About a 5 minute ride from Haleiwa is the place where the world’s most famous surfers have made a name for themselves. Waimea along with some other popular surf spots on the North side are filled with some of the world’s top surfers so you gotta check it out. You might even be lucky enough to see some pro surfers carving the waves so keep your eyes peeled. Go for a dive at Waimea beach as you dive head first into the ocean from a towering 30 feet diving rock which locals love! While the North Shore summer months are filled with light waves and lots of diving fun, winter is a totally different beast. North Shore winters are known around the world for their killer waves. North Shore’s winter waves can get dangerously large, sometimes up to even 20 feet high or more!
