A historical theater house!
The HAWAII THEATER was built in 1922 in downtown Honolulu by Consolidated Amusements of Honolulu as a venue for theatre, popular entertainment and film.
In 1984, the Hawaii Theatre Center was formed to protect the Hawaii Theater from demolition and continued to operate on a limited basis under the direction of the Hawaii Theatre Center, until the fall of 1989 when it was closed for renovation. In 2004, restoration of the exterior of the Hawaii Theatre was completed but you can still see the long history just by looking at the building from the outside.
This is the place to go, not just for movie presentations, but also for theatrical plays. If you’re into art, acting, or movie making, make sure to check out this historical theater!
