Bless your pet!
It’s not just humans that can be blessed in rituals, pets can also receive a special blessing at the “PET BLESSING CEREMONY” being held on June 1st at the Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha-Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine.
The Hawaii Kotohira Jinsha-Hawaii Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is a Shinto shrine which was established in Honolulu in 1920 for the purpose of preserving Shinto traditions in Hawaii.
For the special Pet Blessing Ceremony held in observance of "Pet Appreciation Week", a 6-foot diameter ring made of ti leaves will serve as a "passage of rites" for dogs, cats,
birds, hamsters, turtles, fish, etc. walking through the circle along with their respective owners.
The ceremony will only be held one day, June 1st, from 10am to 2pm. It’s free to participate and there is no need for advance notice. Just show up with your pet and give the gift that keeps on giving.
