There’s a unique beach on the south side of the Big Island, The GREEN SAND BEACH! Located at Mahana Bay, the green colored sand at this beach certainly makes it stand apart.

The Green Sand Beach is actually located on a slope surrounding the entire bay. Therefore the only way to get to the beach area is by foot, and that’s a walk of approximately 1 hour. No wonder there’s hardly anyone there!

Even though the location is somewhat inconvenient, this large beach is extraordinarily beautiful, making it more than worth the trip. If you feel unsure about trekking out there by yourself, check out the special tours that will take you there in complete safety!
