Everyone knows that Waikiki Beach Park was his favorite surfing spot and the statue shows a handsome Duke standing in front of his surfboards, hiss arms outstretched in welcome to fellow surfers and friends.
Everyday, tourists and locals alike adorn the neck on this 5-meter high statue with fresh leis. Actually, many believe that praying to the statue and giving Duke leis will bring good waves to the islands!
